What has changed?

Sometimes PCs will start to have problems after you change something. You may have installed some new or replacement hardware, or upgraded your Operating System. Even downloading a patch from the suppliers Web site can change the way that programs work.

Microsoft's Service Pack 2 for Windows XP was a good example of this. Many security features that previously defaulted to "off" now defaulted to "on" to improve the security of your PC. However that might stop something working in the way that it did previously, and may need a specific setup to let it continue to work. In some cases updating one program may require an update to another program so that they can both still work together. Check the supplier's web site for known problems.
